About the photographer:

I have been a photographer since a child - some of the earliest photographs of me show a Kodak Brownie around my neck! As a child I was inspired by the late Laon Maybanke, a friend of my mother. Laon was a masterful portrait photographer who published two fine books of portraits: 'Faces' and 'Second Faces' in the 1960s. As a teenager I was fortunate in learning about large-format photography first-hand from a veteran pioneering professional photographer - Humphrey-Saunders, who worked exclusively in 10x8 where I grew up in Pinner, near London, England. I am now a photojournalist, stock and fine art photographer, working with Rexfeatures, Alamy Images and the Saatchi Gallery, London, specializing in news, lifestyle, landscapes, macro, floral and scenic work. For me the magic in a landscape picture is first the quality of the light. My photos have sold around the world to magazines, calendars, newspapers, TV etc. I have a special interest in large format, and particularly enjoy using my Graflex RB series C with f2.5 Cooke lens, and Linhof Kardan Master L and Graflex speed graphic for 4x5 view camera work. I work in both film and digital capture - using the Nikon D2Xs - and accept commissions. I am currently freelance officer for the Bristol branch of the National Union of Journalists, and am based in Warmley, between Bath and Bristol, UK.
